Geek Out with Me ๐Ÿค“

red and white connected network

Happy good day, Reader ๐Ÿ’œ

Today I'm geeking out about extracellular matrix โ€” specifically how this network scaffolds our whole bodies together and creates a reciprocal relationship between body movement and healthy cells. (Bodies are the coolest!)

My brain is on fire ๐Ÿ”ฅ

We often give big systems big credit, which they've earned โ€” our muscles help move us, our bones support us, and our ligaments keep our bones attached to each other so we move as a whole unit. They have the big reputations and they're what we're most acutely aware of when we can't move or have discomfort or injury.

AND.

They're not nearly the whole story.

As you move, the extracellular matrix gets super stimulated and sends all these cool ass signals to your itsy bitsy cells so they can do the internal work they need to do to stay healthy. Your individual cells! Your beautiful, lovely, and microscopic building blocks.

This is a big reason why movement can help us heal from a lot of injuries faster, why a stagnant lifestyle can keep us sick longer, and why we just feel good after we've moved around.

AND.

No surprise here โ€” healthy cells make a healthy body.

All that good stuff going on in your cells then helps shine you up from inside out โ€” your circulation improves, you get faster and stronger, you gain endurance, you lose a little of that brain fog.

Talk about win-win.

We also still need balance. We need the healthy stress of movement and we need recuperative rest, which is all the more reason to do what you can and recognize healthy boundaries for yourself.

So move how you can, light up those cells, and have a most remarkable day :)

With nerdy good tidings,
