The Time of Healing

upside skateboard on pavement

Happy good day, Reader ๐Ÿ’œ

I experienced my first skateboarding injury the other day and I'm weirdly excited to share about it because:

(1) I was skateboarding and living life, and sometimes we get hurt doing that.

(2) When it happened, I could feel it in my body and be acutely aware of where the injury site was.

(3) I could assess whether I needed medical attention or another course of action because of my internal familiarity and awareness.

(4) While I'm on the mend, I have enough knowledge to know how to treat my body by balancing physical rest with light healing activity.

That all feels really good, even though my knee doesn't :)

Healing from an injury or wound doesn't feel better pronto. It's more about trajectory. Are you heading in the right direction while your body heals itself (which, PS!, can you believe your body heals ITSELF?!).

This is also true about emotional wounds. The stuff that's big-picture good for us doesn't always feel good right now, so it's important to remember that you can tolerate the discomfort of healing โ€” whether that's taking off a bandage, dealing with soreness, having difficult conversations, or holding boundaries for yourself. You're worth it. Your health and well-being are worth it. And you're setting a stellar example for others to learn from as you do it openly and out loud.

And what do we know always happens over time? You feel better. Things heal. You find your center of gravity again. You feel solid and more resilient.

Get it with your bad self :)

With nourishing energy,
