Happy good day, [F NAME] π
I'm super excited to be writing you today. This has been a really interesting year so far for me (in so many good ways), and I've been able to reflect a lot on where I've been holding back, in my business, my personal life, and my body.
Much stems from being attached to the idea of getting things right the first time, but what does that mean? And can I even think of a time when that happened? The only thing I can muster a thought of is one time I got a strike on my first roll at bowling. And that felt lucky, not skilled (because I'm not a skilled bowler). Just happenstance of physics working in my favor.
In reality, I'm working through 'imperfect' things all the time and actually getting a lot of fulfillment and joy from the process. I love learning things and getting better at them over time, seeing how far I've progressed, experimenting, and gathering data/anecdotes. All of those things require that I actually don't get it right the first time.
That feels really powerful and true: that getting something 'right' the first time would actually deprive me of all those things I really love. Because the feeling of accomplishment is fleeting. Enjoying the journey β that's the juicy good stuff that lingers on your tongue after you've finished the bite.
When I think about this in terms of physical yoga practice, what would my experience be like if there was no room for me to grow in a posture or new things to learn about my body and my practice? Mega boring and not beneficial. I would quit super quickly because what would be the point? I would dread it, and I wouldn't have the excitement and curiosity that fuels my showing up.
Celebrating the ways I'm changing (and changing how I do things) helps me keep showing up. With vigor and determination.
So here I am again! Back at a newsletter. Because I realized that this feels good and there are lots of things I want to share with you, and for now, this is the format I dig. And honestly I missed doing it quite terribly.
And.
With the experimentation and hiatus I took, I gained valuable insights about shifting some things so they would be more supportive. One of them is not being glued to a specific timeline. I don't want to dread this as a task. So I'm not entirely sure how often these will pop up, but do keep your eyes on your inbox. I'm excited to join you there.
I want these very much to be conversations. Spaces where I can share things that will help you see that you're not isolated or alone in experiences. That show you that mindfulness and yoga have good things for you. And that offer you some thought seeds to ponder over so you can see what resonates. A conversation that invites you to respond back in some way when something truly hits and sharing would feel good. Community is a two-way street and all that :)
So thank you for showing up today, for giving me some of your time and energy, and if you're signed up for my workshop tomorrow, I can't wait to see you! If you're not, I'll energetically connect with you soon βοΈ
PS. I'm transitioning my website to a different host, so if you try to reach it over the next week, there might be hiccups. Thanks for your patience :)
With gratitude and an open heart,
